At OCM, we’ve always believed that leadership is about people—not just policies or plans. Few embodied that belief more deeply than Greg Diven, our former President and CEO, mentor, colleague, and friend.
Greg passed away on August 25, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 73. And though time has passed, the impact of his life and leadership continues to shape OCM and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on July 4, 1950, in Baltimore, Greg spent his early years in Mandeville, Louisiana. His educational journey led him to Brigham Young University, where he earned both bachelor's and master’s degrees in English, along with a master’s in Organizational Behavior. It was also at BYU where Greg found his faith and met Hillary, his lifelong partner. They were married for 52 years and built a life rooted in love, service, and devotion to family.
Greg’s professional story spans decades in human resources and career transition—beginning with leadership roles at organizations like Skaggs Companies, US West, and Novell, before joining OCM and eventually serving as CEO.
But Greg was never one to define success by title. His real legacy is the culture he nurtured here at OCM: a place where people come first, growth is human-centered, and transitions—whether in careers or life—are met with empathy and clarity.
He also held leadership roles beyond OCM, including chairing the IACMP technology committee and serving on the Utah Department of Workforce Services Central Region Council. His voice was one of calm authority, focused always on how to make things better for individuals and teams alike.
Greg didn’t just talk about perseverance—he lived it. A passionate distance runner, he completed over 40 marathons and countless half-marathons. He understood that endurance wasn’t just physical—it was emotional and mental. It showed in how he led, how he supported others through career transitions, and how he approached life’s challenges.
Running was his time to reflect, reset, and refocus. It’s a powerful metaphor for how he lived: steady, determined, and always moving forward.
Greg’s life outside of work was rich with meaning. He was a man of faith who served in many callings with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In retirement, he and Hillary served a mission together in Hull, England—an experience that deepened their already profound commitment to service.
He was also a talented writer, known for his thoughtful reflections, poetry, and prose—quietly documenting life with grace and insight. And most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father of four, and grandfather of 13.
Greg’s influence is woven into the fabric of OCM. It’s in how we speak to clients, support one another, and show up every day with empathy and purpose. His legacy is not just in the milestones he achieved—but in the people he empowered, the values he lived, and the company he helped shape.
As we continue to build on the foundation he helped lay, we do so with gratitude—and with the steady knowledge that Greg’s spirit is very much still part of who we are.
If you’d like to pay tribute to Greg, we invite you to visit our Tribute Page. Whether you share a memory, plant a tree, or simply take a walk or run in his honor, we hope you’ll carry a bit of his legacy forward with you.
Thank you, Greg, for everything. You truly ran your race well—and inspired us to do the same.
